Steve Riessen – President

Steve is the fourth generation of his family to be involved
in Western New York Apple Marketing. After graduating from Cornell
in 1977 with a BS in Pomology and Entomology, Steve went to
work with his father and grandfather at Sun Orchard. In addition
to handling several domestic accounts, he oversees all of the
United Kingdom Export Sales for the Five Star Group. Steve’s
responsibilities also include selecting fruit for daily packing,
purchasing production supplies and equipment, as well as maintaining
grower accounts.

John Russell – Director of Sales & Marketing

Having been raised on a large apple farm in Niagara
County, New York, John began his career in the apple business
with the Western New York Apple and Cherry Growers Association
as a merchandising manager. He joined Sun Orchard Fruit Company
in 1991 with the responsibilities of production manager. While
continuing to be involved with the daily operation of the packing
facility, John's main responsibilities include servicing current
customers as well as developing new sales and marketing opportunities.
John is a 1988 graduate of the St. John Fisher College in Rochester,
NY, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management and Marketing.

Bill Mathis – Senior Field Representative

Bill has worked in the apple industry for 25 years. Thirteen
years of this time was devoted to managing a 125 acre fruit
farm. His experience included a wide range of small fruits and
tree fruits. The remainder of Bill’s time has been with
Sun Orchard Fruit Company as a field representative. Additional
responsibilities include overseeing maintenance of refrigeration
and the hi-tech packing line. Bill graduated from Cornell University
with a BS in Pomology.

Ken Silsby – Quality Assurance Director & Field Representative

Born into the apple business, Ken grew up on a nearby family
operated farm. After earning BS and MS degrees at Cornell University,
he served the fruit industry as farm manager and Regional Extension
Specialist. As an Extension Specialist in the Cornell Extension
Service, Ken conducted the apple maturity testing program in
Western New York State. Today, he provides field services for
the more than fifty growers delivering apples to Sun Orchard
Fruit Company. His primary responsibility is to insure that
Sun Orchard apples are harvested and stored at their peak of
flavor and crispness.

Pamela Laubacker – Controller

Responsible
for all fiscal accounting functions at Sun Orchard Fruit Company,
as well as domestic sales transportation, human resources and
office management decisions.

Lori Ketch – Export Coordinator

Responsible for all aspects of export documentation and transportation,
as well as general administrative assistant to management, Five
Star Group and grower account maintenance.
